Image Mounting

Image mounting enhances the presentation of your prints. If you have prints, photographs or other paper-based media, mounting can extend the life and improve the presentation of your images. Fast Frames offers a full range of mounting options. Mounting options include: Canvas Transfer, Plaque Mounting and Foamcore.

Canvas Transfers

A Canvas Transfer is created by first applying a durable, non-reflective, UV-blocking laminate finish is applied to protect the artwork from fading and water damage.

The image is then lifted from the paper and transferred onto a acrylic-primed, 100% cotton duck canvas. The canvas is then stretched onto a a custom-cut wooden support frame called "stretcher bars." The depth of the stretcher bars is approximately 3/4".

The edges of the frame are finished with a premium black fabric tape. The transformed artwork becomes a lightweight, hand-stretched canvas that retains the texture of the canvas. It can be hung as a fine art piece with or without a picture frame. The protective surface can be cleaned with soap and water or glass cleaner.

Please note: The canvas transfer process shrinks the image approximately 1/4" to 1/2" from the original size.

Plaque Mounting

Plaque Mounting

Plaque mounting is a great way to protect your paper-based media. It is an inexpensive yet extremely durable way to protect and hang your photographs, art prints, posters, magazine pages and what have you.

The artwork is measured then mounted and laminated to a sturdy, lightweight 3/8" wood-fibre backing. A premium, non-glare, UV-blocking laminate finish is applied, providing permanent protection from fading and water damage. A 45-degree bevel is applied to all edges, and then sanded. Choice of trim colour is affixed to the beveled edges. You can choose from over twenty edge colours for your plaque.

Foamcore Mounting

Foamcore Mounting

Foam core has a smooth coated surface that is ideal for a variety of framing and mounting applications. It is lightweight, yet rigid and is a cost effective mounting material. Foam makes up the center of the board with a layer of paper on its surfaces.

Custom Matting
The Artcare Archival System helps to protect your framed photographs by holding harmful pollutant gases and acids away from the artwork. It traps and then actually neutralizes these damaging elements so they no longer pose a threat to your photographs.

The aesthetic quality of matting helps draw the viewer's eye into the picture. However, the primary purpose of a mat is to protect artwork by creating space between the art and the glass for air to circulate, thus protecting the artwork from damage over time. Our knowledgeable staff can assist you in choosing suitable mats for any image.

All custom cut mats have a beveled edge which shows about 1/16" of the mat board core. A double mat is created by using two separate mats that are chosen to enhance the colours in your image. The bottom mat can be sized to suit . A common inner mat is approximately 1/8" to 5/16."
